Melbourne father Chris Nemeth was awarded approximately AU$6.5 million after developing chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a serious autoimmune neurological disorder, following his first AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in 2021.

He has spent years relearning how to walk and still requires ongoing treatment.

Australia's no-fault COVID-19 Vaccine Claims Scheme received nearly 5,000 applications. Around 560 claims have been compensated, while many others remain unresolved after years of waiting.
