## Autism prevalence
- CDC ADDM 2022 report: among children aged 8 in 2022, ASD prevalence was 32.2 per 1,000, about 1 in 31 across 16 sites.
- CDC data table shows ADDM combined estimates: 2000 and 2002 around 1 in 150, rising to 1 in 31 for 2022; it does not support the Reel’s “used to be 1 in 100,000” framing for modern surveillance.

## Vaccine/autism evidence
- Institute of Medicine / National Academies 2004: evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship between MMR vaccine and autism, and between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism; proposed mechanisms were theoretical.
- AAP: studies have repeatedly found no credible link between childhood vaccines and autism; the original MMR-autism report was retracted due to fraudulent data and the author lost his medical license.
- HealthyChildren/AAP evidence roundup: decades of large-scale studies show vaccines do not cause autism or developmental delays; includes regression-specific studies.
- Hviid et al. 2019 Danish cohort: 657,461 children; MMR-vaccinated vs unvaccinated adjusted autism HR 0.93 (95% CI 0.85–1.02); no support for triggering autism in susceptible subgroups or clustering after vaccination.
- BMJ 2002 population study: no support for an MMR-associated “new variant” autism with developmental regression and bowel problems.
- Richler et al. 2006 CPEA study: no evidence that onset of autistic symptoms or regression was related to MMR vaccination.
- Pickles/Wright et al. language-regression study: language regression is a recognized autism feature; 90/408 children in the cohort were classified as having language regression, with median age of loss 18 months.
