RCMP open-letter claim names nine Liberal ministers — what is proven, and what is not
An Instagram Reel from @frank_nacci shows a Martyupnorth X post claiming nine current or former Liberal ministers were “singled out as compromised” in an open letter by two RCMP officers. The source trail supports part of that claim — but not the strongest reading of it.

Short verdict
Partly true / not proven as stated. A circulated open-letter package exists and multiple secondary outlets describe it as naming nine current or former Liberal ministers. The public X post from Martyupnorth uses the “compromised” wording. But the sources found in this review do not prove that the nine were officially found “compromised” by the RCMP, CSIS, a court, NSICOP, an ethics commissioner, or Parliament.
What is confirmed
The letter/reporting trail names the nine people shown in the graphic: Marco Mendicino, Dominic LeBlanc, Bill Blair, David McGuinty, Anita Anand, Steve MacKinnon, Mélanie Joly, Arif Virani and Chrystia Freeland. The screenshot’s “Anita Anami” appears to be an OCR/graphic error for Anita Anand.
Todayville and Substack-style reporting identify the signatories as RCMP Sgt. Peter Merrifield and retired national-security detective Paul McNamara. Mac’s Opinion describes them more generally as retired police officers. That means the shorthand “two RCMP officers” should be used cautiously unless the original letter itself confirms both officers’ exact current/former RCMP status.
What is not proven
The word “compromised” is the problem. The letter and articles contain serious allegations involving CSIS, RCMP, spyware, national-security documents, foreign interference and risks connected to China. Those allegations may be newsworthy and deserve public scrutiny. But an open letter is not the same thing as a proven official finding.
PBC did not find, in this pass, an RCMP statement, CSIS statement, court ruling, NSICOP report or parliamentary finding adopting the letter’s claims as proven against the nine named politicians.

PBC bottom line
The responsible headline is not “nine ministers proven compromised.” It is: an open letter by police/national-security figures accused nine Liberal figures of serious security failures, and the allegation is circulating widely online.
That matters because foreign-interference, state surveillance, Charter rights and national-security-document handling are public-interest issues. But PBC should keep the line clear: allegation, source trail, official proof.
