Germany ‘send them home’ Reel: the caption is not verified

PBC Outside Canada preserves the short Reel with a clear warning: its migration caption is unverified, and AFP documented a similar false claim using Hamburg football footage.

Caption unverified: this clip does not establish an immigration protest. Read the evidence and matching limitation below.

Source-caption review. The supplied migration claim and chant translation are unverified.

Bottom line: this nine-second Reel does not establish that the crowd is protesting immigration or chanting ‘send them home.’ The words are an added social-media headline, not a verified translation of the audio. PBC is publishing the clip as a source review, not as confirmation of its caption.

What the supplied video actually shows

The Facebook Reel is attributed by its metadata and visible account label to Kaden Pody. It shows a dense crowd behind a broad banner, with police in front. The word ‘POLIZEI’ is visible. The edit adds a headline about Germany, Islamic migration and sending people home. Those added words do not establish the event’s purpose, location, date or the participants’ beliefs.

The short clip does not show a clearly readable political demand. PBC could not confidently read the full crowd banner from the supplied frames, and automatic transcription produced no usable account of the chant. We therefore do not present the English overlay as something the crowd has been independently verified to have said.

A relevant earlier football-footage correction

AFP’s September 15, 2025 investigation documented a video of dark-clothed supporters, a banner and police that had been circulated as Germans chanting ‘send them home.’ AFP traced that footage to Hamburger SV supporters before their August 29, 2025 derby against St. Pauli, rather than an anti-immigration demonstration.

AFP reported that an Abendblatt-TV video showed the fans from another angle, that the front banner read ‘Hamburg,’ and that a chant targeted the rival football club. It also reported a location match to Max-Brauer-Allee and contemporaneous NDR coverage of the supporters’ march. These are AFP’s documented findings about the footage it examined.

The supplied Reel has features consistent with that description, making the earlier correction an important caution. PBC has not completed an independent frame-for-frame match between this exact cropped repost and AFP’s comparison images. We therefore do not treat the match as conclusively established, or assert that AFP investigated this particular Kaden Pody upload.

Hamburger SV’s own match report independently confirms that the derby took place on August 29, 2025 and that St. Pauli won 2–0. That corroborates the match date and result; it does not, by itself, identify the crowd in this Reel.

What remains unproven

Immigration, border enforcement and integration are legitimate subjects for public debate. Arguments about those policies still need accurately identified footage, reliable translations and representative evidence. A sports gathering should not be relabelled a political protest, and a political protest should not be inferred solely from an uploader’s caption.

How PBC preserved the source

The complete supplied clip and original audio are retained inside the PBC maple-leaf frame. The export credits the repost account and carries an explicit ‘CAPTION UNVERIFIED’ label. The source’s own overlay remains visible for scrutiny; it is not adopted as PBC’s finding. The automatic transcript below is an unsuccessful transcription attempt, not a verified translation.
