Christine Anderson calls von der Leyen “corruption president”: the Pfizer-contract transparency record
A viral X repost shows AfD MEP Christine Anderson attacking Ursula von der Leyen over Pfizer vaccine contracts and EU democracy. The transparency record is real; the strongest rhetoric still needs evidence labels.

What the clip says
Anderson calls von der Leyen “a disgrace to any democracy,” attacks the Green Deal and Fit for 55, alleges deindustrialisation, censorship and citizen harassment, then turns to Pfizer vaccine contracts. Her most pointed line is that von der Leyen is “Commission President and not corruption president.”
“Just the day before yesterday, the ECJ/General Court ruled that you should not have kept the contents of the vaccine contracts secret.”
What records support
CURIA’s July 17, 2024 press release says the General Court held that the Commission did not give the public sufficiently wide access to COVID-19 vaccine purchase agreements. The court upheld the actions in part and annulled the Commission’s decisions where they contained irregularities, including around indemnification clauses, donations/resales, and declarations concerning no conflict of interest among vaccine-negotiation team members.
Reuters reported the ruling the same day and noted the timing: it came one day before Parliament voted on von der Leyen’s second term. The European Commission audiovisual page confirms that on July 18, 2024 she was elected for a second term with 401 votes in favour.
What remains allegations or rhetoric
The phrase “corruption president” is Anderson’s political accusation. The materials checked here support transparency failures, court criticism, access-to-document litigation and ongoing controversy over Pfizer communications. They do not show a final criminal conviction against von der Leyen.
The clip’s claim that the Pfizer product was useless, harmful or fatal in many cases is also not proven by the vaccine-contract access judgments. PBC keeps that as a speaker claim, not a medical finding.

Canadian readers do not need to accept Anderson’s full rhetoric to see the public-interest issue. Emergency procurement, text-message recordkeeping, public access to contracts, indemnification clauses and conflict-of-interest declarations are accountability questions in any democracy.
